But it shouldn't be. Name any other part of the entertainment industry that owns a person's name? A music label might own the rights to the songs or a music manager owning the name of the group/band. But I've never heard of any part of the entertainment industry owning someone's name except for porn. What if it's their birth name? DP would then own the rights to their birth name?? Many girls use their real names like Ginger Lynn I believe.

The group Menudo is still around because possibly the manager owns that name. But no one ever owned the name Ricky Martin except Ricky Martin.

The real work is done by the performers who put their lives and mental stability on the line. They also might be attacked by society because of what they do. They also usually are never paid what they should be. BUT FOR FUCK SAKE, let them own their fucking name! Shay Jordan is one of the biggest stars out there and now she has to start all over it seems. Not everyone knows her new name.
