Ok...time to fess up....Which books have you read either as a kid or adult that made you cry like a little bitch. And no the centerfolds in playboy don't count. Mine was "Where the Red Fern Grows". Damn dogs.

My mom had the complete Little House Series. I remember reading them as a kid

Ya know... I have cried at a lot of movies, but for the life of me I can't remember losing it while reading a book.

That got read to us in class in like the 3rd grade. I think at least half the class had leaky faces.

Same here, never cried over a book.

I got a little misty last week at the end of "The Green Mile" with the old mouse

Though that could have been the vodka and Temazepam.

"Old Yeller" ... though I wasn't reading it ... it was being read to me. Avoided the movie after that.

I got a tad misty at a couple odd books I picked up, initially, for the wrong reason. I used to buy small paperback books in English class. There was some service or whatever the school used.

The first was called: "My Darling, My Hamburger", and I read in the 7th grade.

I then picked up a book, I think by the same guy, called "The Pigman", which I read mostly in a Holiday Inn after my house burned down.

Both were about teens. Both had sad deaths.

I read the "The Pigman" back in Jr High, there was also a sequel to it I read, but can't remember the name. I agree with "Where the Red Fern Grows" as far saddest book though.

Can't recall that I shed tears over a book. I got misty more than once. From my youth, I can't remember any example.

In the more recent past, I remember the books by Tolstoy and a certain chapter in a book by Leon Uris, QB VII.

Ok, time to fly the dork flag again. From the Dragonlance series, The Dragons of Winter Night. One of the more likable main characters gets killed, fairly brutally, and I gotta admit shedding a tear at that one the first time I read the book.

Mayor of Casterbridge left me blue for a while, but I was in my 20s when I read it so I tried not to cry. Thomas Hardy can really get you down. Charlotte's Web hits you hard in the second grade.
