I usually tell friends needing a new PC or laptop to think about Dell because they have these stackable coupon codes that take a lot off the price. Keep an eye on bensbargains.net (do a search there for "dell" on there). The guy posts time-limited Dell discount codes. Getting a system for 35% or more off with a code is not unheard of. Fatwallet.com is another site that posts coupon codes.

My buddy recently got a fully loaded Dell laptop for $900 after coupon codes that would've cost $2200 from HP with equivalent specs.
