Travolta and Preston said the kid had "Kawasaki disease" to try to provide cover for his behavior. Kawasaki disease afflicts arteries around the heart and would have no affect on his mental developement or behavior. They could not or would not ever admit he had a brain problem because Scientology is supposed to be able to fix all that. Maybe the church could have gotten rid of the kid without the parents?
