The Fatman's original post on Laura Love, for those of you unfamiliar with it. OK, now maybe this is all just one big work on the part of Bangbros, about the rich daddy buying up his wayward daughter's porn scenes, but the situation delineated therein beggars the question: How much money would it take for
you to not release the scene?
Obviously, there are fixed costs that have to be factored in (talent/location/production fees for the clip itself, then the same fees for shooting the new content to replace the scene you thought you had), but at some point you have to factor in potential lost earnings/profits as well.
The girl in question is undoubtedly as good looking as anyone around at the moment, with an absolutely breathtaking body that understandably makes her extremely popular and thus liable to sell like hot cakes on a cold day.
Given that (theoretically) the 'product life cycle' of an adult clip or photoset is potentially limitless (it could still be making money long after the people who made it have shuffled off this mortal coil), how does one go about attaching a fixed value to it?
I guess this is a roundabout way of asking 'How much is an adult clip actually worth?', i.e. how much profit do you expect to make for the money invested in producing it, and what sort of figure would cause you to part with the potential profits for upfront cold cash in hand, especially when you know that a girl like this is going to sell like crazy?
Again, I think this is an easier question for those with stats to hand to answer (i.e., web-based producers), but I'm interested in hearing the opinions of everyone on this. Can any of the producers on XPT say for sure what their most profitable (in terms of pure Return On Investment) scene is or was?
