For sober alcoholics, we call it "Amateur Night." I never wanted to venture out, drinking or not. In the Army, I used to make $50 taking someone's CQ or guard duty.

We in AA do a "searching and fearless moral inventory" as step four. If you are looking back over your year, and planning the next year, may you have the courage to honestly ask what you truly believe, how well you have followed your beliefs, and ways to change in areas where you seem to go against your beliefs. My hopes are that you may follow your heart, or gut, or soul, or whatever you really believe, while being open minded to other views.
