I don't see Alex as the kind to hang himself, except for maybe an accidental death by auto-erotic asphyxiation. He seems more like a "step off the platform in front of a train" kind of guy to me.

I think the guy who he tried to push would get a sense of the impending "threat" and would instead self-preserve and judo-style, redirect Panzie's mouth-breathing charge into the oncoming train.
