After reading Christian's blog today about his traumatic experience with a sick hedgehog, I am deeply saddened by the thought of a hedgehog having a stroke, and needing x-rays.

I do have to ask the following question, though -- if hedgehogs are indeed illegal to own in the state of California, then why would any veterinarian treat this animal for you, letalone call in a specialist for the following day? That veterinarian has an obligation to destroy that animal under state law.
