I would think that there is almost always going to be a larger-than-average age difference between male and female performers for three reasons:

Once male talent has proven themselves to be a dependable performer, they tend to stick around for quite a while.
Female performers seems to average a 6-month turnaround rate so there is ALWAYS young new pussy joining the industry.

The largest demographic that actually seems to pay for porn are middle aged men, it's not unreasonable that that audience is catered to more than others. You gotta follow the money.
