Why now as far as timing of that statement? Let me guess - you turned on HBO. That's a cute miniseries designed to grab audience at the cost of historical accuracy. I ask because I've heard others suddenly piping up with their opinions about Saddam and Iraq based on a fucking TV drama.

The sad truth is we'd actually be better off if he was still around and we'd never set foot there, since at least he kept those maniacs in his country in check, them and their ages old secular infighting bullshit. Babysitting Iraq in his absence has been a no-win situation for the U.S. and has bled us of hundreds of billions of dollars, all to amount to little more than playing bodyguard for Haliburton and friends.

I can think of a few alternative uses for all that misdirected money in this current economy, but that's what people get for voting wolves into the henhouse.
