I've never played with phones much. The cells now are all digital, not a whole lot you can do easily, I don't think.
Conq., re-consider a flip phone, they are fairly durable when closed. But don't drop it in the toilet! Mine has survived 2 years with me, hiking, motorcycling, been dropped a few times. I don't use it much, mostly text and talk with my co-worker and call California to my aunt.
I got mine free with a 2 year contract, now I need to get another phone because I am eligible for an upgrade after 2 years and my current phone sucks as far as reception. All I need is voice and text. Glad this got bumped.
Verizon is the best choice for RV folks, best national coverage.
My co-worker said to go to the Verizon place and ask them which one has the best reception. Also, she said the cameras suck, but is useful when working on something, to take a picture and go to the store to find the right plumbing part, or to take a picture before disassembling something, so you know how it goes back together.
Everything I really needed to know, I learned on XPT.
