LONDON - Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Wednesday the British public would get answers about how a man managed to repeatedly rape his daughters, fathering nine children with them, without being stopped by the authorities.

The 56-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison for a case a judge called "the worst I have come across" in 40 years of judicial practice.

Brown said "the whole country will be outraged by the unspeakable events."
