GTA: Chinatown Wars is my favorite installment of the series. The storyline and humor made the cut scenes worth watching, and I liked the old skool style graphics - they had a kinda 64 bit look to them. Buying real estate all over Manhattan and engaging in drug trade arbitrage were some nice touches as well.

64 bit "old skool" graphics? You are retarded. Nassim, please stop posting on this board because you are too stupid to do so.
Seriously, the word is "school" not "skool". I want you to die.
If it isn't a computer game it isn't a GTA game. Chinatown Wars? Portable consoles are for pathetic faggots.
Or do you really like playing games with your thumbs?
You know I like you fartz but you are going to have to explain this to me.
I have had a game paused for 51 hours while I have played other games all the while torrenting. What is the appeal of a device that does anything less that everything.
On top of that I am powering 2 monitors and have a video feed to my TV.
I am not trying to brag I just want to know what the appeal is.
And the PSP (the new one looks nice) was a shit system, remember when they tried to make a movie format for it?
You can build a gaming computer for around 3-400 bucks a PSP is 300 bucks. Why bother?
i think they realized that and are trying to do something different with the vita, although i dont know if theyll be sucessful because its basically a psp that you can hook up and play on yout ps3,which you can also do with the psp.
i guess im kind of guilty in away of supporting the psp since vice city stories was a psp title to start with i think.but i loved the atmosphere and feel of vice city.they should definitely have number six take place there since theyre doing san andreas for 5 and did liberty city for four.

I was just playing along with your post, Conq.
You know, I can't explain the lure of consoles. I can definitely say that the console market is so goddamn strong, that most AAA game release are dictated by it. I know all of the advantages of PC gaming, but when I go to forums like Gamefaqs and Neogaf, one of the most copied and repeated posts is, "I hope this gets released for PC". I have a few PC gamer friends, and everytime I talk about a game, their response is usually, "oh that's not out yet on PC", or "I don't think they're going to release that for PC". These guys spend the majority of their gaming time playing Minecraft and Dwarf Fortress and I don't fault them for it. I've been on consoles since I was seven years old (four if you count playing Intellivision at my Grandma's house), and I still route for the home team, winning or losing. I hold absolutely nothing against gamers. I would love for this thread to be more of a tolerant environment where we can come together as gamers and leave all other board politics and usualy rhetoric aside. I admire any gamer that stays true to form, be it on console or PC.
The trend I have noticed with GTA games anyway is the PC version gets released about a year after the console. My theory is they want to recoup their money before PC gamers pirate the shit out of their games.
And I don't blame them at all.
I have seen some interesting stuff done with he Nintendo DS. One of the neighbor kids had his all hacked up so it could be used as a cell phone.
PSP has sold 71 million world wide. DS has sold 150 million.
The DS sold at a profit, the PSP was a loss leader.
And with a SD card I can play whatever game I want on the DS. And do homebrew apps.
I have a genesis, PS1, 2 SNES consoles and own an arcade cabinet. But with even a simple cheap pc I can play ALL the games for ALL those systems. Even the DS is emulated. I have not checked on PS2 or 3 emulation because it probably involves dicking around with PSN. And why would anyone bother with an XBOX360. You pay for net access through the console. AND you pay for net access to your house. Even if it were 1 dollar a month it's still nickle and diming.
You can stay true to lots of things but that doesn't make them good. I don't admire a loyal Reliant Robin driver for the same reason I don't like other inferior products. If you are going to be loyal to a product pick a superior one.
I built a gaming PC for someone last week for the grand total of nothing (hardware cost). All salvaged and cannibalized hardware. Used a card that has DVI, VGA, and HDMI out so it goes right to his TV.
I guess all I am getting at is why pay more for less?
The only thing in my build that cost any money was a windows 7 serial number.
Now there are other potential expenses if you get serious about this. Gaming mice and keyboards are not free.
It's really just a matter of sticking to what I've always done. Change scares me. There's more to it, though. Honestly, I have trouble sitting down at a PC without whipping my dick out and scouring the web for sweet free porn.
HAHAHA. Yes. I remember when I used to call the computer my "2000 dollar porn and video game machine" And it certainly is good at porn.
I set up a shuttle PC last week for a TV server and I have to crunch some numbers now and figure out how many watts is equal to a degree because my living room has got slightly warmer.
I always wanted to hook up my TV, but I have a feeling I will be dissapointed trying to watch homemade, low quality, "slut wife gets hard anal" videos on a larger hi-def screen.
You might be surprised. Especially if it's possible to get a standard definition TV hooked up relatively crummy resolution video clips look just fine on them. Of course you would need one.
Since you are a porn worker I think maybe I should mention I have a Commodore 64 monitor from 1988 that we used to use in our jack off booths at work.
This was in 2000 and the booths were kind of slap dash put together with salvaged shit. They did work but no amount of money would have convinced me to make a schematic of how they worked. There was crazy shit like fast forward and rewind connected to VCRs/DVD players via long wired and remote controls with the little LED torn out and wired separately.
I can't even begin to do this place justice. I had an office and did stock mostly.
Our shops are more like the movie Clerks. The owners order the shit and give it to us to receive, label, and put out. The owners do all of the managerial work, and the clerks do all of the legwork.
My understanding is that a lot of booths are sort of done on consignment. Like the booth company keeps 5 cents of every quarter to maintain the booths.
Do not envy them doing the managerial work. I had to do that shit and it was a nightmare.
started playing bayonetta and gta eps from liberty tittie on sunday.ive been stuck on bayonetta but thanks to gamefags i found out i just have to do three torture attacks before the time limit is over in that level.
got stuck on lost and damned at the standoff level.killing all the cops from the building is easy enough but once youre out of the building, not so much.lots of fun so far though.theres definitely a lot of similarities between johnny/billys relationship and jax/clay from soa.i have a feeling johnny and billy are gonna end up going after each other towards the end of the game or sooner.

Claude: he reason they exist in Toronto is transients and addicts. Pay 5 bucks get 2 hours of privacy. Makes no sense to you but makes sense to street folk.
I may buy this game in the nest 1-72 hours for $10. Its a pretty cool game and I am huge fan of pre-rendered grapbhics. Its a mix of turn-based and realtime strategy.
I know the mission. The way I beat it was after abandoning the game for a month. The next time I played it I got into "the zone" and beat it first try, with ease.

I can't get the hang of flying the thing. I'm all over the place like Hatchetface in the prison break scene in Crybaby.
@Lou, I actually do very little when I'm medicating. Anything that involves dexterity or concentration, no way. I went to class high one time in college and that hour took half a day.

you should definitely get eps from liberty city.im only 12% through the lost and damned and have been laughing my balls off every other cutscene.

GTA missions in general are a pain. That you cannot just save the game whenever you want to is ridiculous game design. That and the sometimes quite hard missions coupled with shoddy controls drove me away from two or three titles in the series.
cqd mentioned that his PC system did not cost anything, as he had salvaged parts at hand. And indirectly that his PC cost about two grand. Well, then the notion that it is possible to build a gaming system for around four bennies seems to be a bit relative. An entry-level gaming system is not what he wanted, obviously. What can easily be spent on a high-end gaming system is absolutely outrageous, not even taking into account the premium system vendors add on top, but the hardware people building it themselves have to afford. Consoles are definitely dominant and PC gaming a good heap of dough more currently. Thankfully, the end result, the graphical fidelity a fast PC can offer, has nothing to do with what the console crowd has to deal with.

I know, right? Lot's of driving back to the scene of the crime. I'm old school. On the old pc games, you could save and quit anywhere. My rule for Wolfenstein was to save after almost every room clearing.

It depends on whether you think saving can be abused to make the game easier than it's meant to be or the idea that checkpoints add an "artificial" layer of difficulty.
I think since you bought the game you should be able to save whenever you want. But another part of me sees the potential abuse of that and thinks that you should be limited to max 3 saves a mission/level.
That way you can save if there is something you NEED to do that pause won't cover but it's still difficult.
Also I think games should ramp up the difficulty the more often a player saves. Get good at the game, master the controls. Don't use saving as a workaround for beating a tough mission! Get good at the game.
isn't gta loaded with cheat codes? i'm pretty sure i used to play that one before i got hooked on modern warfare and gears of war(online...the shit talk was epic).

Oh, I totally abused it. No question about that. That was really the point.
They all have cheats, but few have "god modes" anymore. Mmmm...god mode.
I have never played anything on line. I finish the game and off to eBay it goes. I really need to try getting into playing online. I have a cordless headset, for fuck's sake.

dled skullgirls(which was supposed to be out ages ago)and played it a bit.even took it online and got nasty with it.its pretty fun and i love the 2d graphics, not to mention the character design.its definitely reminiscent of the older street figther games playwise.

got stuck on this mission the other day.barry you should book mark this channel since im guessing they have a walkthrough of each mission for every game.when you get eps from liberty city you might find it easier riding the motorcycle effectively in first person pov like me.
in bayonetta news im on chapter 6 out of 12 now.id be closer to beating this already but im playing gta and ive started playing black ops online alot since getting my internet back.before i used to wonder why the same maps are usually voted for.now i know its because alot of the less popular maps suck shit.

i was able to complete this damn mission after more countless fuck ups than i care to remember.its so easy to drive in there and shoot down cops and take the chopper out,but getting back on the fucking bike is the hardest thing in the world because of the fucking controls.

Gotta love Pete. Talking games up to the stratosphere, and then completely under-delivering upon release is that guy's fucking calling card. I never understood his popularity. Check out Tomonobu Itagaki quotes for equal lulz.
'Ninja Gaiden 2 will be so ambitious that when other developer plays it, they will lose motivation and confidence in their games'
"If I made a similar game as a game I made in the company I quit, people would say, 'What an idiot, can't he make anything else?' Well, that is more or less the opinion I have for, uh, that Bayo-something game."
I prefer a car to a bike for any missions that involve a getaway or chasing someone down. One wrong move and your guy is flying through the air.
on this one it worked well because i was able to just mow right through and dodge the cops at the airport.a car wouldve been to easy to make explode with all the bullet fire.shooting cops on the way out didnt help my wanted level either.

dled some demos the other week.most of which were meh.simpsons arcade isnt worth buying.ive played through it as a kid anyway at the arcade.theres also not even that many levels.
sniper elite v2 doesnt seem worth getting either.its supposed to be a sniper game not a third person shooter.too much close range combat for my liking.but making a shot from far away is satisfying.its worth downloading the demo just to try it.
mega man 10.this has a difficulty setting which im guessing the older ones didnt.i found megman 1-10 on one ps2 disc for 10 bucks but im not sure if i should get it.playing through the challenge stages on the demo was fun and just as equally frustrating.your button press is wrong by just a cunt hair and you die.i dont know but it is fun playing as the lil blue bastard.i wish theyd let you download mega man soccer on the ps3.best sports game period.
gotham city impostors.slap new skins on cod, keep the controller layout, make the analog sticks too sensitive so you cant hit stuff half the time(im sure you can adjust it but keep reading)and you have no reason to even playthrough this team fortress wannabe for the alotted 60 mins that are free.i know i stopped after half an hour.save your money and put it towards some new maps for whatever cod you play or towards black ops 2 which comes out in november i believe.
other than that i dled final fantasy tactics last night and since then ive put an hour and a half into it.great strategy fun thats like playing chess with pieces that can do shit.the story is whatever but who gives a shit?
