ABCNEWS: U.S. Navy Not Going To Protect Pirated Ships

Apparently there are a lot more politics at play when it comes to various governments and their boats in various bodies of water - who knew? To think, that so far shipping companies have just been paying ransoms because it was a fraction of the value of and on their ships - yet now they're surprised that frequency of hijacks has risen and the amounts of money being demanded has increased exponentially.

Haven't they ever heard of "you don't negotiate with terrorists?" I think this is what happens.
