I am very upset. I just got back from the vet's office where Vyvyan hamster was euthanized. The poor little guy developed some sort of intestinal problem and was bleeding from his rectum today. I rushed him to the vet where he stayed for a few hours under observation, then I got the call. This fucking sucks.

Will get another one soon. Saturday or Sunday. Depends on when the hamster shop is opened.

I have two 20 gallon tanks that are now vacant. I am going to get one hamster to live in one of them. It's already set up for a new resident.

At some point I will get up to 3 hamsters, full capacity as far as tank real estate goes.

They are so cute and taking pictures of them and letting them sleep in my pockets makes me happy.

Do gerbils and hamsters get along? Can you have a mix of them in the same cage/aquarium or do they try to kill each other?

Hamsters hate everything. Even other hamsters. They are solitary animals and only get together to mate. Sometimes even then the female injures the male.

In keeping with the British comedy theme he is going to be Edward Elizabeth Hitler, or Eddie.

Eddie Hitler was a character on the show "Bottom" who was played by the same actor that played Vyvyan on the young ones.

Sad to hear about Vyvyan, glad to her about the new fella. The hamster pics are cool.

I had the cats cremated at the pet cemetery with the other cats, mass cremation. But my little terrier Pepper Dog, I got her ashes and spread them in our favorite park across from the creek. Makes me happy every time I hike that trail.

2 of them are sealed in large prescription pill bottles with short written eulogies and and a little bit of hamster food. Then buried next to my building in an overgrown area.
They are about 10 yards from my apartment windows.

I sealed them up because there TONS of stray cats around here and I feared they would get dug up and defiled.

The vet said she would cremate Vyvyan so I went for that.

It's important not to loot dead hamsters, they need their earthly possessions in the underworld.

I noticed that both of my hams now have names that reference the same tv show.

This is Eddie. To give a sense of scale I believe his exercisewheel is 9 inches in diameter.

Sorry to hear this bro, losing a pet of any kind is rough. Especially one who interacted with you. Only an numb asswipe can't begin to understand the emotional pain of losing one.

I lost my cat 18 months ago, he was just over 22 years old. I miss boxing with my little buddy, that fucker threw one hell of a left hook.

we got my dog cremated after we put him down in June and when we evacuated for the 2 motherfucking hurricanes this year that we had to run away from, we brought his ashes with us. he's sitting on my chimney right now and will go wherever we go. he was awesome.

Towards the end of the first semester my freshman year in college, my dorm neighbors bought two female hamsters. Or so they were told. It turns out that one of those girl hamsters was a boy hamster. By the end of second semester, the two hamsters had multiplied to 52 hamsters. Incest is best!
