Obama is the better choice
Financial Times
Published: October 26 2008 19:31 | Last updated: October 26 2008 19:31

US presidential elections involve a fabulous expense of time, effort and money. Doubtless it is all too much – but, by the end, nobody can complain that the candidates have been too little scrutinised. We have learnt a lot about Barack Obama and John McCain during this campaign. In our view, it is enough to be confident that Mr Obama is the right choice. ....

The challenges facing the next president will be extraordinary. We hesitate to wish it on anyone, but we hope that Mr Obama gets the job.

Fatman's back! Yay!

Also, "the Economist" has gone Socailist:

http://www.economist.com/world/unitedstates/displayStory.cfm?source=most_commented&story_id=12516666

"So Mr Obama in that respect is a gamble. But the same goes for Mr McCain on at least as many counts, not least the possibility of President Palin. And this cannot be another election where the choice is based merely on fear. In terms of painting a brighter future for America and the world, Mr Obama has produced the more compelling and detailed portrait. He has campaigned with more style, intelligence and discipline than his opponent. Whether he can fulfil his immense potential remains to be seen. But Mr Obama deserves the presidency."

I was just about to post this!!

It's not as big a surprise. While they have endorsed Reagan, Dole and "W" Bush, they did endorse Clinton in 1992 and Kerry in 2004.

Both of those are European magazines. They're probably not going socialist...

The Financial Times endorsed Kerry in 2004. Was too lazy to look up the other years.

There was some conservative uprising in at least the UK with Margaret Thatcher, and according to Fatman, that's about the time The Economist made the conservative endorsements.

I've seen some interviews with editors at various magazines/newspapers that made endorsements. I'm always left wondering how many of the endorsements are just based on not wanting their readers mad at them. And, Obama is mad popular in Europe.
