What is the condition of the New Orleans? Has all the debris and destroyed buildings been bulldozed and rebuilt or is the whole area in the same state after Katrina?

I'm not from NO and haven't been there in years.

Last I heard (6-8 months ago) from a friend in the US, who is a truck driver, it was still a mess. Some parts were cleaned up, but, in general, the devastation was still clearly visible.

We have friends who live in mid-city. According to them, the core of the city..what most people think of as NOLA, has been pretty well cleaned up and rebuilt. But over in the 9th and the farther you get from the city center, it is still in pretty rough shape. There are lots of blocks where only 1 or 2 homes are rehabbed, and the others are empty and still wrecked. I think they've still got a long way to
go.

I was there for a 4 day getaway and judging from Bourbon Street you would never know anything happened. Did alittle sight seeing one day and saw St Louis Cathedal,it sits right down on the Mississippi River and if you looked close you can see the stain from the high water line from the storm about 20 feet up the building. Two miles from Bourbon Street it was still a mess.Great town to party

A problem is that a lot of people aren't coming back and aren't going to spend a nickel on rebuilding.
