$50k bail comes as a result of the D.A. feeling backed into a corner by her cute story and subsequent national attention, leaving them no choice but make an example of her for fear of being perceived as too soft. Had this not gotten so much media attention, bail would've been less, and had this sow not invoked the "big black guy" stereotype as her attacker, it would've also been less, since the D.A. and P.D. don't want to chance protestors on their doorsteps prolonging the media attention agony in the event she was simply released unscathed and driven home by mommy.
