Does anyone on this board like acid jazz, chill music, music that makes you feel like you're in a taxi looking upon some glamorous atmosphere...say, Tokyo, Manhattan, what have you. Or am I the only moron here who likes shit like this? Par Example

I like Acid jazz but not sure about the song you posted. That sounds like something that would be on a Hed Kandi Summer mix. The last acid jazz group I heard and liked was Skalpel but that was a while back. Is Mogwai acid jazz?

As for Gigi, God, that refreshing honesty is awesome. I secretly love Enya, and not-so-secretly love Biggie. As for Coldplay, well, I have a burned cd copy I'm embarrassed of.
But I've been really into music lately you'd find in most pretentious restaurants that are named after an abstract noun like "Pod" or "Nuance." I'm such a dork, but it's what I'm loving.

I love old classic rock (60's/70s) and love older house and r&b from the 70s,80s & 90s. Im also a hip hop fan, but very picky about who I listen to. Some of them are just so ridiculous that Im embarassed for them, and you dont even understand any of it. I also like lame shit that most on here would say is, like Scissor Sisters, Cazwell, Amanda Lepore, Beyonce, Alicia Keys (love her  ), all the songs from the 80's (some really bad ones, but those were my party years and I love them).

He has good taste, he picked you and he likes Alicia, she's beautiful (sometimes has acne) but beautiful nonetheless. And her voice is amazing. I listen to her all the time, have all 3 CDS. Favorite is the 1st one.

Not into acid jazz or chill out/ambient at all, but I hear it a lot at restaurants. It also reminds me of my retail days.
My taste is more on the upbeat tip running from early 80s new wave, goth, late 80s/90s freestyle like Noel, Exposee, Connie Z, etc, Norwegian death metal, indie electronica like Hot Chip, and I will shamelessly crank radio rap (I fucking heart Jay-Z and Kanye) in my Audi right after Love and Rockets til the day I die. The other weird thing is that I don't like music at home. Only in the car. And I don't like concerts, but used to love raves. Once upon a time ago...

I can totally see how it would be good taxi riding music but can't really see it in other situations aside from elevators.
While I don't really find this kind of music moving I would pick it over many other things. Totally inoffensive and a bit dull.

Big ups on the Studio 54 shout-out. As you may have garnered from my Nile Rodgers thread, i love that stuff (my big sister was 18 in 1978 so...). Burg, my fiance once told me he used to get boners to Groove is in the Heart because the red-headed chick (miss lady kier?) in that video wore such short skirts. So I guess that song gives him the opposite effect. But you're right, the Ooh Ahh redhead is so hot.

I thought Trevor Dunn's Trio Convulsant were great when I saw then, I guess you could consider then a really extreme jazz band.
