Hmm... maybe I haven't heard enough "acid jazz" but it sounds like sonic wallpaper - a placeholder as if silence was a bad thing. It sounds like stuff you have on in the background at a dinner party and don't really care about; it doesn't speak to you or pull anything out of the subconscious. On the emotional scale it seems kind of flatline - no highs and lows really, no tension and release, just sonic oatmeal.
It has its time and place and I know what you mean about taking taxi rides or plane rides, especially if you're solo, since introspection is almost compulsory at those times especially for anyone not suffering from A.D.D.
I'll have to think of what to recommend that is along the 'introspection music' lines but with some more tactility - there's a lot of good stuff.
