I wrote in Ron Paul today. On the local side I split about half and half between R and D. There were a shitload of unopposed races on my ballot though. Mostly piddly stuff that should be appointed anyways like county clerk and sheriff. Could someone explain to me why police commissioners are hired, i.e. appointed, yet sheriffs are elected? And why are we electing who is going to be in charge of the file cabinets and copy machine at the court house, i.e. county clerk. Wouldn't anyone that specialized in office training at the local Vo-Tech school work as well as anyone else?
