The Wall Street meltdown is the current hot news topic and likely to remain so for the forseeable future, as it reinforces folks' fears for their basic economic well-being. Of course, a domestic terrorist attack would threaten folks existentially, but in absence of same, IMO the predominant narrative of the balance of the Presidential campaign is likely to involve economic themes.
