Random, did you read the article in the New Times about McCain by Amy Silverman? I remember the incident with Barry Goldwater, tho I was just a foolish Brophy boy at the time.

Anyone remember the McCain R.S. cover story back around 2000 when he was going up against Bush? They didn't consider him to be a monster back then. Expecting Rolling Stone to do a story that is fair and unbiased to Republicans is like expecting Joan Crawford to write a story that is fair and unbiased to wire hangers.

Yeah RS is skewed to a college aged crowd. A lot of these issues about McSame's past are already out there and are coming out.

Three crashes early in his career led Navy officials to question or fault his judgment.


McCain08 is failing massively and there is no reason to believe he is going to somehow rescue his campaign in the debates. Because of this you can expect them to get even deeper in the character attacks. I am glad to see the other side fighting back in the character wars because McCain has a lot in his past that would have been brought out by now if he was on the other side and which i am sure were by Rush and company when he was running against bush in 00.

The bottom line is while McCain might be fine as pres if there were no alternative (arguably couldn't get any worse than now), under no circumstances can we have a glorified PTA mom so close to sitting in the president's chair were McCain to suddenly grab his chest and collapse in the first term, or fall out of remission.

People don't seem to realize enough that it's really TWO people running for president on the McCain ticket: McCain and Palin. It's not merely a standard Pres/Vice Pres arrangement due to John's age and medical issues.

She got 16 hour-a-day intensive coaching by a team to prep and rehearse her talking points for the recent debate and now many actually believe the Katie Couric interview was just an anomaly. If ever there was a manchurian candidate, she is it. Oh how I'd love to see video of those cram sessions - those brave souls trying to get her up to speed on the last 16 years of political history and world events; her tutors pulling her hair out with each blank stare from her that begs to know "when do I get ta go home, ya know?".

George W. has long had the bad rap for being 'dumb' with a blank chimp stare. However he's Einstein standing next to Palin. Not because she's a woman (I was for Hillary) but because she has that dumb stare like a garden variety real estate agent that won't STFU and C.ant U.nderstand N.ormal T.hinking

Therefore Palin makes the decision easy - my vote will be the anti-Palin vote.

Palin is smart. She is new to national issues, and a right wing nut job. But she isn't stupid.
