This is a stupid idea to begin with but when your last name is Kuhn (COON) it is a very stupid idea. I suck at posting pictures but if someone else wants to do it be my guest.
"The mayor of Arkansas City is under fire for his fundraising fiasco, which resulted in him formally apologizing to the NAACP.
Mayor Mell Kuhn took part in a fundraiser for the Cowley County Court Appointed Special Advocates Sept. 28. It's a yearly event called "Men in Tights Under the Lights." Kuhn dressed as a black woman, wearing blackface and using a sexually suggestive name.
"The whole idea is to sit up there and make fun of yourself, so they can raise money at my expense," Kuhn said.
Kuhn admits his competitive nature took it to a whole new level.
"We lip synced to 'It's Raining Men,' and then we started lip syncing to Aretha Franklin's 'Respect,' and then we faded into 'Last Dance' by Donna Summer," he said.
Kuhn won the event.
"The feedback was 100 percent positive, 100 percent positive -- standing ovations," he said.
But he didn't win over the NAACP.
"Bad taste. Bad, poor choice on my part. Not understanding that this would be something that would construed as racist in any way, shape or form," Kuhn said. "If they found it that offensive, then it must be."
In addition to his apology to the NAACP, Kuhn says he will go to sensitivity training."
