Max Hardcore Sentenced to 46 Months in Minimum Security Prison

TAMPA - Director Paul Little, aka Max Hardcore, was sentenced today to 46 months in a minimum security prison on charges of distributing obscene videos through the mail and the Internet.

Little was fined $7,500 and his company Max World Entertainment was fined $75,000. The director was charged with 10 counts in all, plus another 10 counts for his company.

Judge Susan G. Bucklew gave Little the minimum fines allowable by law. The recommended range for the fines was between $1.2 and $2.4 million.

Attorney Jeffrey Douglas plans to appeal the sentence in the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

Little has been advised to make no statements to the press.

TAMPA - An adult pornography producer was sentenced today to 46 months in federal prison for distributing obscene materials.

Paul F. Little, also known as Max Hardcore, and his company, Max World Entertainment, were convicted in June of five counts each of distributing obscene materials over the Internet and through the mail. The jury ruled the films, which include scenes of vomiting, violence and urination, were criminally obscene.

Today, U.S. District Judge Susan Bucklew ordered Little, 50, to pay a $7,500 fine on his own behalf and another $7,500 on behalf of his company.

Bucklew also ordered him to serve three years probation upon his release from prison, placed the company on five years probation and imposed a total of $5,000 in special assessments.

Before he was sentenced, Little apologized to the court and said the videos and DVDs in question were labeled and intended for the more permissive European market, not for sale in the United States.

Bucklew sided with the prosecution's argument that the designation was a marketing ploy to let buyers know the material was extreme.

According to evidence in the trial, federal investigators in January 2006 purchased an online membership to the Max Hardcore Web site and downloaded five promotional video clips. Then, in March 2007, an undercover postal inspector bought five DVDs from the Web site, having them delivered to a post office box in Tampa.

I thought this Judge would have given him the "max" in both fines and prison time. I'm glad to be wrong.

On to the 11th Circuit.

I've been reading the TBO comment section since this started, and I would assume the majority of people reading that web site are Floridians, funny, about 90% of the people who post are outraged about this, and claim its a waste of taxpayers money, and that these are *consenting* adults...

Well, thank fucking god for small mercies.

considering they were originally proposing DECADES in jail time and millions of dollars in fines, this is a much less severe result.

The problem here is how much is it going to cost Max to appeal this? This is almost a clever ploy, because he's now looking at parole in about two years and $80,000 dollars in fines. Is it almost a push for him to appeal at this point? Can he even file for damages?

I'm unclear, was the company fined $75,000, or $7,500? I'm betting the latter, given the language- ...and another $7,500...
So other than the probably staggering lawyer's fees, it's only going to cost him 20 large? I bet the judge hated having to gavel down on that, too. The judge was obviously on his side, even if the jury wasn't.

Having done 27 months (of 54 sentenced) Fed Min. time myself, I kinda don't count that as much of a penalty.
Then again, I actually commit a crime. Max just got targeted and shot down like a Zero over Tinian.

Max got what he wanted. Now he and his defenders will put him in the same league as Larry Flynt. Anyone who puts these two in the same league should be punched in the face.

I did forget to mention on how the US DOJ just gave him his own personal MasterCard commercial.....since in the end what he gained is priceless publicity!

JRV, I agree, but appellate courts tend to rule upon procedural errors at trial before seizing upon larger issues if they can at all help it.

Y'all better wise up and vote for Obama.

Cause if you let Sarah Palin and her fundie agenda anywhere near the White House, you'll start to have prosecutions against porn comring from the national level. Not to mention that the Supreme Court will be tipped on the conservative side so any porn cases that bubble up to that level will get the far-right treatment.

Democrats are better for free speech rights and you know it.

If for some totally insane reason you cannot go for Barack, then vote for Bob Barr or write in Ron Paul. At least they respect the privacy of your bedroom as well.

(P.S. - Doesn't the President appoint judges to the Federal Bench as well - i.e. the Circuit Judges? That's yet another reason to get a Dem. in the White House. We can ably smack down pathetic local obscenity prosecutions on appeal)

I think, should he be allowed female whores/visitors, procure sex scenes on videotape with them while in prison & sell them as "Hardcore during hard time" after he gets out.
