FWIW, I have no clue who you are, but I agree that people who have no business relationship with you shouldn't be IM'ing you (or anyone) to try and set something up. Totally unprofessional and a waste of time.

That said, after the initial telephone call, I really prefer email - much more efficient and hardly ever a disagreement about what was talked about.
