I remember a few years ago, I use to be able to find fake, but convincing snuff porn sites. It seems like I can't find any lately. Is fake snuff porn Illegal now?

All porn is illegal where it offends community standards. Ask Max.
I'd imagine that a jury would be more likely to find "fake" snuff porn obscene than, say, a Vivid title, if that's what your asking. But the dramatic depiction of a murder, in and of itself? No.

I'm a consumer who buys porn. Regular porn got old a long time ago. I've watched allot of hardcore and forced rape / abuse porn. Personally, I'd like to see some snuff porn, if it were doable. The fake kind, of course.
But I'm not holding my breath, waiting for it to happen. I'm probably in the minority on this, so I'm sure it's not going to happen anytime soon.

I downloaded it yesterday, and plan to watch it tomorrow night. I think the two snuff films from the Guinea Pig Collection from Japan, were pretty convincing. But I was thinking more of combining snuff with rape/sex, when I started this thread. Those gore movies are usually just snuff, without any sexual violation.

I dunno. Where was it filmed? As noted above, Hollywood does it all the time, so if it was anywhere within the State of California, the answer is no. Anywhere else within the United States shooting porn is considered prostitution, so the addition of the "snuff" factor isn't going to matter.
Outside the US? YMMV.

It would be judged under the Miller test -- and if deemed to be obscene it would be illegal. No one would know until the jury decided. This is one area that most mainstream producers stay away from just because of the risks involved.

I think Hollywood gets away with it, because it's gore/horror/torture. In movies such as Hostel, There's no real sexual interaction involved between the perpetrator, and the victim. (Intercourse, Forced rape, Necrophilia etc..) So it's not really a porn flick, IMO. It falls more into the gore/horror genre. If forced rape, or other sexual activities were involved, then it would probably cross that invisible line of community standards.

Come January 2009, it will be illegal in the UK, at least to possess it. The law has already been passed/signed by the Queen, and January is the beginning of enforcement. It's all to do with a facist piece of thought-crime law called 'The Dangerous Pictures Act'...you can read more HERE. It makes me ashamed to be British, quite frankly.
