Legos were pretty much all I played with. All I did was build houses or buildings with them. I drew a lot back then, so it came natural to build what I drew. I was into copying houses I saw on drives on the way to places, especially modern (it was the 80s, mind you) or Tudor. I was obsessed with Legos since age 7. My grandfather was the total retired world traveler and would get me import Lego sets from different countries. One Christmas, it was the castle set only found in Denmark at the time. It was a long time before that one was released in the U.S. I think at the late age of 14, I finally stopped playing with Legos.
I never got into the Lego people. Just building pieces. How useful were the shutters, arches, doors, or the 1 pieces? VERY.
Ever thought about becoming an architect?...Do you have any of your drawings or pictures of your houses?
Oh and for the record not all kids played with Lego. I was very much in to play kitchens I had practically a whole entire room filled with stove, sink, dining table and refrigerator. I also loved Barbie, Little People, view master and collecting Lisa Frank stuff. By 10 I was very much into Tamagotchi nano baby. In my teens I played Bratz dolls with my little sis. So fun!
Fuck I feel old.
Actually, yes I did. I wanted to be an architect until I got into jr high and struggled with math. That put a damper on that idea. [lukeford]what did you want to be whe you grew up?/ aka why are you a whore?[/lukeford] Ironically, I became excellent at math in college and even took math for all my electives. By then, the reality of how competitive architecture was freaked me out.
And I loved Liza Frank stickers. Had 'em all.
