Why are lower prices=senible? Producers, such as the US and Canadian oil companies wouldn't think so.

Are lower prices for milk more sensible? Not if you're a dairy famer.

In effect your test for which commodities don't get to trade freely boils down to the ones I consume should be cheap, the ones I sell should be expensive. There's nothing wrong with wanting those things, but having the government make that policy is the antithesis of what the Republicans have been talking about for 50 years.
