I have had nothing but communication issues with Washignton Mutual Investments Inc. Obvs, communication ELUDES Wa Mu. and, yes, they have officially started calling themselves wa mu. how fucking hip. i don't want hip when i bank i want shit done efficiently. 2 months ago, my new bank sent a wire transfer to 'wa mu' to get those funds from them and into my new bank. 1) cuz wa mu sucks 2) new bank has higher mma rates. guess what...wa mu has NO RECORD OF WIRE TRANSFER. yep, thats why i was still getting statements from them. mind you, my new bank was the one facilitating the wire. thus, why sitting in a bank for an hour before i have to rush to shoot a bukkake.
so i said fuck it and left my funds in there until yesterday when i sat on phone forever myself to get to a real live person to get money movement paperwork faxed to me. i filled out the forms and, low and behold, there is NO RECORD THAT I EVEN SENT THAT ON?E EITHER!!! wow!!!! also, while i was doing laundry 5 mins ago, some wa mu rep named rebecca called and when i called her back at the number she gave (same number on my caller id) it was disconnected!!! so, i just spent 30 mins waiting on line again for anyone, ANYONE to help me. AND i STILL HAVE TO PAY the $25 wire fee!!!!! i was so fucking irate, yes, rude. apparently, so rude that i have been put on a special 'customer watch' list. just faxed my paperwork again. let's see if by miracle it happens. now i don't have time to verify such fucking faggotry to see if they did it right because i have a plane to catch. btw, i heard wa mu is going down, DOWN like bear stearns. get your money out NOW.

Morgan Stanley is in pretty bad shape. Any company with exposure to sub-prime lending products could easily fail. Any company that is active in the credit-default swaps and collateralized-debt obligation markets is very exposed.

I think that's an overstatement. There's a winner and a loser in every derivative, it just happens to be the counterparties right now. Every bank has some type of real estate portfolio stress, but only 7 have failed this year. Compare that with 7,000 that failed in the early 1990s.
Dick Kovacevich rightly said that this was the first bank panic that has been caused by itself. Restrict lending practices (let's face it--not everyone deserves to live in a SFR), curb naked short-selling and allow more banks and investment managers to merge so they don't try and get into each other's panties.

I had my first mortgage through Washington Mutual (I refuse to call them Wa Mu)... it was a nightmare.
I refinanced as soon as was fiscally feasible and decided then, almost 5 years ago, that I would never do business with them again.

Yeah, I should have been a little more clear. Not every F.I. that has any exposure to mortgage-based derivatives and sub-prime mortgages is going to fail. However, we are talking about massive exposure by some of the largest F.I.'s in the country. The 7000 banks that failed in the 90s were mostly regional and local banks. Now, we are talking about a huge shakeout on Wall St., not Main St.
Your words concerning shorting are prophetic. I see that the SEC banned shorting last night. I'm not sure I like the ban. I've always thought short-selling helped bring efficiency and necessary risk management to the markets. Conditions now are very unusual, so it might be the right call.
It is too bad that many potential saviors are unable to intervene as Barclay's and BofA have done. Private equity firms should be able to step in with their deep pockets and make acquisitions of banks, but as you know, if you acquire more than 25% of a bank, you are subject to banking regulations. No PE firm is crazy enough to put themselves in that position.

Dan, I want you to be honest with me... Take 10 seconds and tell me what the "P" in "JP Morgan" stands for. Honestly, I don't expect you to reply, you probably don't know. There has been no standalone story about the bank, even from the FDIC website, that didn't rush to mention that all depositor's money would be safe. Tried closing out/getting rid of my box. I sent the keys and notary signed letter. Because I'm a dumb whore, I didn't send it certified mail. Now Wa Mutual has no evidence that I sent the keys/letter to them. Now they're requesting I spend $200 opening the box to get my stuff out to end this whole tirade.

Good news! Washington Mutual in Seattle called and is waiving ALL fees from this box incident and closing out my box. No $200 needed to break open the box! Maybe because I complained a lot or maybe it's because of their recent drama turned to hopes to keep customers. I'm still taking the rest of my money to another bank. HOLLA>
