Rescued a little black tom on a parking lot the other night. He apparently had been set out. Took almost an hour to lure him out of some potted plant displays with food. Been to the vet and took his last dose of worm med. today. He actually had some weird lung worms also but the vet said regular worm med. would take care of it. Poor little thing looks ragged right now with matted hair around his butt and legs from pooping so much. He's eating like a champ though. Hopefully he'll have solid poop tomorrow. Keeping him isolated while the dogs are in but he's getting to know the other 2 cats. His name is Sammi !

i dont have the cats anymore,they were demolishing my room and never left it due to my dogs.i never knew that before and it was well over a year before she had any tangles.i do brush my poodles' hair.but one way or another they get haircuts a few times a year.

You seem to have some woods and stuff around where you live, so that might be different than trying to cram in animal life in any city, basically.
It must be boring to no end for them in cities. If pets regularly had shrinks, there would be some tag-team deals going on in drugs and couch time.

I do live in the country and I see how that has enhanced my respective dogs' lives. But I take them everywhere with me including to work and on the road for work. They cope in cities, jobsites and hotels because they are well socialized but if I lived in an urban setting I'd look for a different breed that was not as active or would opt for a different pet if one at all. These high-bred labs have to have room to work, and work to do.

Scout travels in a crate in my suv when I'm driving and I leave him in there at times while I'm TCB... with all proper ventilation and cooling precautions of course. I'm waiting for the day when I'm in an urban area and some peta-oriented bastard/bitch starts in on me about leaving him in the car.

I used to enjoy telling girls at bars that I worked doing ridiculous jobs, like selling aluminum siding. One time I told a girl that I worked with animals and she thought that was oh so sweet. Then I told her that I was actually the guy at the animal shelter whose job was to burn all the unwanted puppies and kittens. I said she could tell whenever I was working by whether or not there was smoke coming from the chimney. I think that was the end of the conversation.

Euthanizing pets would be a terrible job. I think I could cap a cow or pig and can certainly euthanize waterfowl and certain migratory birds and wild mammals. No problem with it whatsoever. But killing pets in an animal shelter would suck the life out of me.

Agreed. I've shot at a human (guy breaking into my house) with no remorse or terrible feelings. Going to have it done at the vet's office is traumatic enough. I can't imagine doing the task myself.

What does that cat weigh?

She's a normal-sized house cat, maybe a little longer in the body than average and she isn't fat at all. I'd say she's 10lbs or less.
