It may be a case of the psychological feature that make people with a special characteristic (that is unusual to the observer) all look very similar due to the special characteristic overshadowing individual differences. The way white people sometimes feel Asians all look the same or very similar. I hear Asians say the same thing about white people. And not being from the US I've met very few american indians.
