Hmmmm, food. I had a really nice dinner tonight. I marinated some chicken and put it on the grill. I also had garlic mashed potatoes and a spinach salad. I was watching the Olympics when I ate. Boy those Chinese gymnasts look young.
Do you guys think they are too young to be in the Olympics.

how do you guys feel about forced child labour in china? I think it is a necessary evil, i mean... yeah.. its nt very nice... but it keeps costs down and therefore consumer prices. Its kinda tough to be against it when you think about it that way... what do you guys think.

Make them be allowed to compete younger, then they have more of a chance to compete and win medals and make some money to help their families. But there's more of an uproar with China because the kids are basically kidnapped from their parents at 3 or 4 years old and they are only allowed to see their parents once a year. And with their one child only policy for the country, parents have their child to only be taken away?? They lifted the one child only policy after the recent earthquake that killed hundreds of children leaving the parents with no children if they are not medically capable anymore to have children.

Ohhh, that's gotta hurt. The judges only gave that a 15.50. Evidently the South African judge was not impressed with the champs limited grasp of the original topic, let's hope she can redeem herself on the second pass.

BRUSSELS (AFP) - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice warned Russia Tuesday it was isolating itself from the international community with its behaviour in Georgia.

"The behaviour of Russia in this most recent conflict is isolating Russia from the principles of cooperation among nations," Rice told a news conference after an emergency meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels.
"When you start invading smaller neighbours, bombing civilian infrastructure, going into villages and wreaking havoc and (carrying out) the wanton destruction of (its) infrastructure, that is isolating.
"It is not an act of the United States or the European Union or anyone else to isolate Russia, it is what Russia is doing," she said.
Russia's refusal to comply with a ceasefire agreement to withdraw its troops from Georgia meant that NATO -- the West's main military alliance -- "cannot continue business as usual" with Russia, Rice said, echoing the final communique agreed by the ministers.
Rice said the ministers wanted to demonstrate in their strongly worded statement that NATO would not allow Russia to dictate the terms of when former Soviet states such as Georgia and Ukraine could join the Alliance.
"This is a very clear statement that NATO, having come so far after the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union... is not going to permit a new line to be drawn in Europe," Rice said.
The line, she said, was "between those who were fortunate enough to make it into the transatlantic structures and those who still aspire to make it into the transatlantic structures."
"There will absolutely be no new line, NATO does not accept that there is a new line and we are not acting as if there is a new line," she said.
Having seen a number of eastern European states join NATO, Russia is furious at neighbouring Georgia's attempts to joint the Alliance.
If Georgia had been a NATO member, the Alliance would have been obliged to defend it against invasion from Russia.
While a column of Russian armour left the key Georgian town of Gori on Tuesday, there was no sign of a full withdrawal 11 days after Moscow poured troops into the country.

They get the boys they want, the job they want-- hell, they even get discounts at the auto mechanic and can get out of speeding tickets because they are so pretty. Thus they never develop any other aspects of their personality because they never really had to. And suddenly age creeps around the corner, they grow old and pudgy, and everything that was handed to them on a silver platter vanishes with their looks.
Plus wouldn't it be annoying to be really beautiful? I mean like drop-dead, Angelina Jolie, unbelievably beautiful? (I know some of you don't think Angelina is beautiful-- and you'd be so wrong about that-- but in that case insert your goddess here) I would think that constantly being stared at, constantly being hit on, and constantly being told you're beautiful would get really old. And you'd wish people saw something else in you. But you can't complain, because nobody feels bad for the pretty girl, and in fact, that would be a sure way to make yourself unpopular very quickly.
I wonder if being really beautiful could be a curse as much as it is still a blessing. And what's funny, is that despite everything I just said, I'd probably still want it.

(I know some of you don't think Angelina is beautiful-- and you'd be so wrong about that-- but in that case insert your goddess here) I would think that constantly being stared at, constantly being hit on, and constantly being told you're beautiful would get really old. And you'd wish people saw something else in you. But you can't complain, because nobody feels bad for the pretty girl, and in fact, that would be a sure way to make yourself unpopular very quickly.
I wonder if being really beautiful could be a curse as much as it is still a blessing. And what's funny, is that despite everything I just said, I'd probably still want it.

There's nothing wrong with CARING about one's appearance, and usually that extends to one's health and well being, so a certain conscientiousness about one's appearance is healthy.

Like you said Holly, it is TOTALLY out of one's control the genetic makeup we are born with and how that makes us look in general...certainly, we can do localized, limited things to improve ourselves, like lose weight, exercise, dress or groom ourselves a certain way. But let their be a boundary to the importance we put on it, with ourselves and others. You make yourself, and in turn others, miserable when you emphasize looks to such a ridiculous extent. You alienate yourself, and voila, no matter how hott you might be, you are fucking ALONE. while so called "ugly" people who you snobbishly say are "Settling" for whomever because they have to, are HAPPY and experiencing a rich full life getting the most out of a relationship with someone they TRULY care about and vice versa. Jokes on you, the would be beauty queen.
A person who puts appearance HIGH on the list of qualities they want in someone, and who thinks that how THEY look is what will determine if they snag the person they want, generally tends to be selfish and totally impossible to love and please in a relationship anyway. Avoid them....find someone with FLAWS and accept them You will be a lot happier and more secure in the relationship.
There are 80 other tangents I could follow on this topic but I am not going to... I like hot looking chicks as much as the next guy, but it neither begins nor ends there. And there are MANY MANY women I know or have known who arent exactly gorgeous or even just plain "attractive" who I would, in a heartbeat, both want to spend hours in conversation, and bang the shit out of becuae they have other qualities and traits that make them sexy beyond a pretty face or perfectly proportioned body. Who's to say what's perfect anyway?
Women tend to be more full of shit on this whole topic anyway....they claim that they want MORE to a man than appearance, or flat out say looks dont matter that much, yet prove otherwise in both who they select, how they select, and how they carry and conduct themselves.
