Keep in mind that I no longer drink so pub crawling is not an option, and I'm mostly interested in the historical sites.
What? The entire social scene in Scotland is at the pub. Scots have breakfast in a pub. You have to at least go to the pub once- if anything else just to meet some local people.
As far as traveling you should try checking out Aberdeen since there's some interesting places to hit up such as St. Machar's Cathedral (if you're into architecture), His Majesty's Theatre, Aberdeen Maritime Museum, Snafu @ Belmont Street (this is a bar and yes, I'm advising you to hit this joint up. They feature lots of live gigs and you're sure to run into something) and definitely go to Duthie Park Winter Gardens (you will thank me for this one).
I'm not sure if you're into sports or not but I wouldn't advise going to places like the stadiums especially when you're chopping it up with an Americana accent.
Now, if you really want to be adventurous travel to Langside and find the Carmelite Monastery. No, this isn't a joke. Monasteries are the shit. You'll love it. Trust me.
Last but not least (though very naughty) hit up Club Noir in Glasgow. I know a dame that works here and fashions these giant tits. Oh la la.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask. Me mom goes to Scotland all the time for some quality R&R alone.
Oh, and if you like old cemeteries hit up Gorbals, Forge, Springburn, Dalbeth or St Peters all in Glasgow. Take a paper and pencil and shade away (forgot what this is called but we did it all the time as kids).
