There's a point where the "scroll past/ignore" routine becomes impossible.
Folks, if you really want to have someone here who posts 100 times a day (yes, look as the signup date and the number of posts), we can. Do you realize how many posts that amounts to in a whole year? Tens of thousands. If you read the entire board, there are already several hundred new posts a day.
Personally, I'd rather get rid of this trashbag, take away Fatman's pills and get him a new laptop.
And I love Rob Longshot chiming in about how it was in the "old days" when the biggest dipshit on the board was Sportswami. Rob got into so many protracted days of posting we had to ban him for his own good when he moved to Florida. He was and is a total attention whore posting addict: he has to post about everything and anything.
Taking out alt-ids, the ratio of banned users to total is ridiculously low here. All the PAFH's, Darths, Applesaucer's, Drpornz's, Mr. Poo's, Smartt's...would you really rather have these people back on board? C'mon...

Certainly, the number of post per day/week is something to take into account. That's one of the reasons I like XPT a lot: I have the chance to catch up with most threads every day and it doesn't cost me half a day.
But this poster was banned within 24 hours; smartt, Darth and several others had a lot more time to settle in (and eventually fuck up).
But neither of the reasons you give, were mentioned by Gia for the banning of the OP of this thread.
FWIW, I'd rather see the return of Fatman than 5 new posting members joining XPT. But beggars can't be choosers, I guess...

Relax, tatty. Bitching about the quality of posters and/or bannings has become an annual ritual. Do a little digging and you'll see, this ain't exactly new ground being covered here. Just try to think of it as XPT's collective vagina bleeding once a year instead of once a month.
What's more, when you've been around long enough, you may even start to agree with both sides, which I do, even though I know it doesn't really make any sense. I don't agree with Gia's decision, but I know if I had mod powers, I'd be knocking motherfuckers off left and right. You either get used to the hypocrisy and unfairness of the board or you don't. Why do so many posts on XPT simply talk about XPT? This thread sucks. It sucked before the banning and it sucks even more now. One person's annoyance could be another person's entertainment. Feel free to ban me for saying that, or whatever the fuck people get banned for on XPT. It's super cliquish here. That doesn't bother me any, since I come and go as I please, but I can see it sucking for someone new who really wants to be a part of this board. And there is another post on XPT simply talking about XPT.

My 2 cents - unbanning Starrpower is probably a good idea and a decent move. For the overzealous and annoying poster there could be a 24hr temporary ban - a cooling off period if you will. A slap on the wrist as opposed to a kick in the groin.
