This is not about oil. Iraq is. There's no oil in Georgia. Closest thing is a planned pipeline to export gas/oil from Kazachstan, etc.

This is about expanding influence by force. And to take some attention away from the Chechen disaster. I wouldn't be surprised if something happens there in the nexr few weeks/months.
