I was adopted.

My birth parents were 15 and 16 years old. (She was actually older than he was.)

I think giving me up was the ultimate act of love, under the circumstances. They had no way of knowing that the people who adopted me would turn out to be fucking psychotic. (Although they also did their best, under the circumstances)

I never went looking for my birth parents, because, after all this time, I figure it would just re-open something painful for them.

But, if either or both of my birth parents showed up on my doorstep, I'd buy 'em a beer and thank them for doing the right thing.
