Actually in the state of FL ..if he hits you you can shoot to kill. Legally. Self defense. You wont even get arrested.




I don't know about the laws in Florida (other than that they seem to be pretty fucked up) but I find it difficult to believe that the use of deadly force could be justified as a valid and legal response to simple battery.

In self defense, you are only allowed to use the minimum amount of force necessary to stop the attack; i.e. drop him with a bat. Once he's down and out or running away, if you hit him again you are now guilty of battery and no longer the victim.

The typical benchmark for the use of deadly force is you have to justifiably feel that your life or the life of another is in jeopardy. I highly doubt you could convince a jury that the guy who slapped you (with no other crime committed) deserved to die.

Now don't get me wrong. Any guy that would hit a girl for any reason other then self defense or a consensual act (boxing, rough sex, etc.) is a low life scum. But are you willing to spend the rest of your life in prison for a low life? It would really suck to find out you were wrong about the local laws after the fact.
