Growing up in San Diego I went to the comic con twice when I was in the 6th-7th grade. Not only were there no porn stars, I don't even think there were any women there. It's amazing how much it has changed. Although the guys that were there appear to be exactly the same.
The Wolverine trailer kicks ass though.

Now I really regret not going; I had a big plan to confront all these porn whores about poisoning the 50,000 kids walking through the convention center. Had my camera crew and everyone ready too. its my second time not going to Con since 1997 (the first being a crappy pink eye infection 3 years ago); an hour at the media desk on Wednesday and the hassle of being sold out was enough for me to stay home. Sad to see the Con being taken over by whores; don't they have enough conventions to sit at hawking polaroids?

I've never been to a porn or comic con. Is this porn whore infestation in comic con a new trend? Why are they showing up all of a sudden - are porn star-based comics or graphic novels becoming mainstream? Or are they looking to bulk up their fanbase among the young? In years past its been the occasional random porn star, but generally actresses from soft core cable movies or a Playboy or Penthouse Playmate ten years past her prime signing at a random booth. My camera crew bugged some annoying asian guy from "eadultcomics.com" with a few porn starlets three years or so ago (and didn't see them at another con). Nothing too risque though. Maybe four five years ago I know a few sellers were bugged by the Con organizers for having porn there. They got really anal in checking IDs at their booths. It (porn selling and promotion) seemed to subside for a few years, but judging by the number of press releases sent out for porn stars and Comic-Con (including Jewess Joana Angel for one), there seems to be a bigger porn presence, this year at least.

Do the porn stars play a role like the girls do at car shows? As in, do they hang around a specific booth and serve to attract leg traffic? I guess if I had an edgy comic series to sell I might hire a notorious porn star or other leggy slut to hang around my stall in order to attract the man-boys to my wares. Twofer! Comic-Con is the San Diego Convention center bottom floor filled with dealer booths and company booths and an upstairs of panels, presentations and card tournaments/other nerd things.
The dealer floor is quite expensive to get a booth at and its not really like a car show; it used to be a lot of individual toy and comic dealers but has mainly become an industry/public show for companies and new products.
Most of the porners are usually at the smaller booths with people selling stuff (the company booths rarely sell or just give shit away) with their autograph or picture the incentive to buy something, usually an 8x10. I haven't seen one there giving away a free autograph in some time, compared to AVN where everyones usually signing for free.

I'm pretty sure I understand the context in which this was meant, but for the sake of argument, the whores 'aren't signing for free'. Maybe the fanbois don't have to pay for the paper jizz targets their favorite whore just signed for them, but the whores are still getting paid for their appearance. There are quite a few whores I've seen over the years say how they won't bother attending the show unless a booth has contracted them for appearance. MAGIC, they still appear, and they've found a last minute hangout for a few hundred bucks per day.
That is, how that Tory Lane isn't with Sin City anymore, see how quickly she gets sucked up by anyone in '09 (if they have a show?). If she's lucky enough to get scarfed up, it might be for some 3rd rate booth for a highly reduced given A) washed-up factor, and B) her reputation at past shows.

As long as they are not making explicit porn images visible to passing minors or exposing themselves on the con floor, I don't see the problem. Sure, Aurora Snow has sucked and fucked a few cocks in her time, and lots of guys have no doubt furiously jerked off over her image but I'm sure you could say the same thing about Jessica Alba and nobody complains if she goes to the Comicon to promote Sin City or one of the Fantastic Four movies.

I remember many years ago hearing about this Brazilian artist called Mike Deodato that everyone was raving about, so I had a flick through some early black and white indie he'd done and I could clearly see he had ripped off a number of shots from Playboy magazine pictorials, most notably Anna Nicole Smith's. After that he seemed to morph into the typical no-talent Jim Lee-wannabe that many artists seem to think is the quick route to the top.
Of course, if you want a real treat, check out anything illustrated by Mark Beachum. Everything is secondary to the cameltoe, even in a dialogue scene.

First, we're assuming that kid in the picture is under 18. He looks under 18, but he might not be.

On the Carnal Comics Yahoo group, Jay Allen Sanford (publisher of Carnal Comics) during the 1990s) and SS Crompton (the current publisher of Carnal Comics) have given their opinions about whether the Comic-Con should have an adult section. They have different opinions on whether adult material should be separated in to it's own section. Jamie Gardner SS Crompton: I'm not sure I fully embrace the idea of an adult section for the con. Over the years, I've sold a lot of books to people who had never heard of or seen adult comics, but loved the idea of such books. I've gotten many new fans and readers this way. So there's no doubt that it would hurt Carnal' sales at the show. Furthermore, if the Con wants to get rid of us, they could put the adult section upstairs in some hard to find niche. Our sales would drop like rocks and none of us would come back the following year. We would then be gone - for good. I think the Nazi's pulled this kind of trick when they put the jews in ghettos and starved them to death. So unless this "adult section" is guaranteed to be somewhere on the convention floor(and not just "in the building") - I'm not sure Carnal would even get a booth under those circumstances. Jay Allen Sanford: The petition to have comic-cons offer separate areas for adult material is here: http://www.petitiononline.com/4comics/petition.htmlI've never understood why most cons refuse to do this. I recall a shortlived publisher's coalition in the mid-90s, we all tried to get the San Diego con to do this but they wouldn't even consider it. And yet they'd complain after, inevitably, every year the local news stations did TV reports from the Carnal booth with some "shocked" reported doing an "expose'" on "porn stars invade gotham" or some similar hook. I think the con organizers realized that this kinda press didn't DETER attendence, it INCREASED with a new well-monied audience who were uninterested in superheroes or Manga, Jay Allen Sanford: The coalition of publishers who petitioned the San Diego Con for a separate adult section included Carnal Comics, Boneyard Press, Angel, Verotik (?!) and a coupla others I ferget, as well as Maggie Thompson at CBG and a guy named Chris at the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund who lobbied the Con with us. Fantagraphics/Eros lent tentative support but with a provision that they thought publishers who carry adult and all-age material like them should get two booths for the price of one - a booth in the adult section and a booth on the main floor. I seem to recall Rip Off Press agreeing and pitching this notion as well. The Con wouldn't even discuss the remote possibility - - -"

they don't appear there anymore either. I
don't think you are the reason why they
don't have a booth at Comic-Con anymore.

The women who sign at the Carnal Comics booth, at the San Diego comic convention or anywhere Carnal appears, co-created their comic books. In many cases, they wrote the complete scripts themselves, usually an autobiography AND a second story where they write about their wildest fantasy. If not by themselves, some collaborated with a comic scripter in order to format, but those ladies too tell their own stories, in their own words, which Carnal then turns into comic book gold, as it's been doing since 1994.
Carnal has been hosting porn stars at the San Diego comic-con each year since '94, sometimes with upwards of a dozen girls per show, and their autograph signings are often listed in the official comic-con program guides (tho their porn films aren't named in the programs).
As such, the ladies of Carnal Comics have far more of a right to be at a comic-con than the half-nekkid car-show style booth girls, who just show up to tighten the pants of potential customers and pose for pics. The ladies of Carnal Comics are comic book creators. The lovely Miss Snow included.

If the statement I quoted was made by SS (sic) Crompton, please pass my comment on to him. You, Jamie Gardner, are still an imbecile for:
1. Putting that statement on this board without indicating the proper source;
2. Willing to work for an idiot who makes such statements.
That other people have made similar comparisons, doesn't mean it's automatically OK to do so yourself. In my opinion, it shows a complete lack of any moral values. I do agree with the freedom of speech etc., but be prepared to encounter some fierce criticism from time to time.

In my post, I included messages from SS Crompton and Jay Allen Sanford. The intro before I quote them has my name underneath. For SS and Jay, their names are identified with the messages I quoted. The photo of Aurora Snow and the young looking guy comes from Aurora's myspace page. http://www.myspace.com/clubaurorasnowThe guy in the photo has a myspace page that says he is 22 years old and that he is from Houston, Texas. Most of the background is dark in the photo so it's hard to identify where the photo was taken. Above the photo, Aurora has a link to his myspace page. Rev. Of the 11 photos, 4 of them show Aurora at Anabolic Video at another convention. The photo with Carlos was for sure taken at the Comic-Con because I can identify the Carnal Comics booth behind him. I have new information about what started the thread in the first place. Aurora Snow emailed me last night.

Aurora Snow: "That picture was not at Comic con! The kid as 18 an I think it was at an LA convention perhaps adultcon or the adultcon in Vegas...as at Adultcon they give out those silly bead necklaces that I would never otherwise wear and am wearing in the picture.So it has nothing to do with Comic Con, it was at an adult convention where he had to verify his age before gaining admittance!"
SS Crompton has also commented about the photo: "Whoever Aurora was photographed with that they were talking about was NOT at our booth. She wandered around for a couple of hours looking at stuff and must have gotten that photo with the kid then (assuming he is under 18). In the photo the kid is sitting down and Aurora is leaning next to him. At no time did we have ANY customers come into our booth and sit down – there simply is not room behind the table for that. So there is no way that happened at the Carnal booth."
