I wouldn't call him a hack... but I certainly wouldn't say he is the voice of any generation. Maybe the voice of a sect of hardcore comic and sci-fi fanboys.

He is either hit or miss with his films. For example, I thought Clerks 2 was very funny... but Jersey Girl really sucked. Chasing Amy had nice moments... but I didn't care for the film. I'd say the guy is talented...but I wouldn't say he is great. I certainly wouldn't say he is a hack, though.
