Tri......No Child Left Behind does not need to be gutted...it needs to be revamped (it has made schools that put out shit products for decades start coming up with ways to do better).....accessing students based on a standardized test is wrong....it only measures kids based on the norm group........which means by design some schools and students will always fail due to the results being standardized.......kids need to be measured based on a standardized criteria but against their own growth not against a norm referenced group.....i.e..they come in to you 2 grades below level and leave 3 grades below... NOT GOOD...cause you as a teacher didn't do shit...but if said student leaves you even only 1 year below..you rocked cause you taught in 1 year 3 years of growth....not up to par with the normed group but still a tremendous increase in academic growth

next.....he is NOT for merit pay.........This much I know even without combing through the platform (school starts Tuesday so will do that within the next week)

and the bonuses.....yeah I laugh.....if they were going to really be based on things it would be actually based on analyzing the data of where kids come in prior to the test and seeing the skills and content kids are missing, targeting those areas and again analyzing the test results after the test and comparing that to assess growth........But don't expect Washington to come with any real solutions on that.......they are full of empty promises and sound bytes...

and even just even... I wouldn't get a bonus cause i don't know if you noticed what, but what I teach isn't tested in most states at the high school level, so does that mean that what I teach isn't important....it is important....it just isn't Science, Reading or Math....so as a nation it isn't valued compared to the others...

We did the above system when I taught middle school and results flew through the roof...the principal made a good name for himself and moved on to bigger district and school down south somewhere.......but that stands to me the best way to use standardized tests in a manner that benefits kids....but it is labor intensive...

Schools can best be reformed at the state and district level....NOT WASHINGTON....

Dak'kon.....I posted what happened on Friday..
