I can tell you as a person who has on only a few occassions voted Republican....the Obama campaign officially pissed me the fuck off today......


as many of you know I live in WI and teach American Government and Politics. During election years my classroom is decorated with current political campaign signs.........I went to the Republican office and was told "take what you need".....They were very helpful...I got signs for people running for State Assembly all the way up to McCain stuff........I was even told to take some bumper stickers as some kids may want to put them on their notebooks.......judging from the few Obama stickers I had seen and remembering kids snatching up the Kerry and Bush stuff....I took about 12 stickers...
I go to the Democrat office the same day in my home county and they were out of Obama signs but gave me a bunch of bumper stickers.......The next day I go the Democrat office in the county I work and all the Obama campaign seemed interested in was recommending students to them for a campaign internship...(they had emailed me in early August and when I didn't respond cause I was on vacation they called my home for the same thing.......

I tell them who I am and what I am doing and they dig an old Obama sign out (only had one)and told me that it was $2.50........and on top of that they were charging $3.00 for bumper stickers....the same ones I got the day before for free at another county office....

So let me get this....I teach a bunch of juniors and seniors and we register the kids who are of age to vote.....and you want ME to pay for a sign.......I started my political education as Young Democrat in college in 92....I was elected to the county board of supervisors in 94 and went all out for the election in 96 even went to the convention in Chicago.......I have been decorating my room like this since I have been teaching during presidential years and I HAVE NEVER PAID FOR A SIGN.....hell I used to be the one who got the list of people what wanted signs and stuck them in peoples yards......

The Obama campaign is asking to people to pay for a sign that advertises their support for that candidate.....If this is the change that he is talking about......give me the old candidate cause I never felt i needed to pay to support a candidate......even in a school in which many students are excited for their first ever political voting....I absolutely refused......

AND HE SUPPORTS TEACHERS......yeah they were all over me finding them students for the internship....(unpaid except for a letter of recommendation for college) but the campaign couldn't even get a darn sign........and yes I did have $2.50 in my pocket....

Its the principle
