I have been looking forward to this for months. Every time a preview comes on TV I quickly change the channel because I don't want to see too much before Friday.
I haven't been this excited since...well, probably Batman Begins.

you know... it sounds silly to say this but its true.
i didn't see Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight at all... there was not a single moment i was watching his portrayal and said "thats heath playing the joker...". Dead, Alive... it is an amazing portrayal of a psychopathic killer who wants nothing more than to fuck with people, only driven by a desire for chaos.... The Joker at his most raw... none of that jack nicholson "hey look, im jack in white paint" bullshit... no Ceasar "i vont shave thee mousetache" Romero... but THE Joker... the one we always wanted to see..
Not to forget Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent... gleefully washing TLJ out of my mind forever and giving a spectacular performance.
The Weakest part of the movie... in my opinion... was Bale. I love him as bruce wayne... but... that fucking batman voice... it kinda makes me cringe.
one thing the dark knight wasn't though, was a superhero movie, and i for one am glad for that. It was however, one of the best crime drama's in a long time... and the little tributes to Michael Mann's heat were appropriate. (the nods to burtons batman were nice too... and Harleys "Babies"
... you know... speaking of Harley... which i do often... I would love to have her in a movie just so i can see Bale look at the joker and huff in his horrid bat voice.. "She came closer to killing me than you ever did... puddin'"

I think by pushing the idea that the Batman, the Joker (and now "Two Face") are simply violent, vengeful, psychologically-damaged "freaks" in a typical, modern, city it kind of limits where future films can go - or basically dooms you to make the same movie over and over and over again.

Aaron Eckhardt stole the movie. He blew me away as Harvey Dent.
Heath was really, REALLY good.
Bale was gorgeous, sexy, hot, beautiful, and any other adjective that projects a female boner. He is walking sex, and I'm fine with Batman being portrayed as such.
Maggie Gylenhaal was actually a bit annoying, but Christ, a robot would have been better than Katie Holmes.

they didnt kill off Dent, they covered up slipping him into Arkham much like they did when they pretended Gordon was dead. Batman took the rap for his crimes and they put him in Arkham to hide what he did from the public so it could keep its "white knight"
And yeah.... Eckhart was an amazing Dent.

I went to go see Dark Knight again this weekend and I liked it even better the 2nd time. I discovered new things that I missed the first time. (mainly because there were no screaming kids this time)
I sure hope they make a third one with Chris Nolan directing. They obviously can't use the Joker. That character died with Heath Ledger. I can't imagine anybody trying to pull off the joker for another 10 years or so. Two Face is dead. I don't know why some of you think he survived.
I was thinking that the Riddler would be a good villain for the third movie. But not the green suit, giggling douchebag that Jim Carrey did. I was thinking more like the Zodiac killer. He leaves clues for one murder or robbery that leads to the next. Kind of like the movie Seven, but with Batman.

I saw it two nights ago and I loved it! Maggie wasn't so great, kinda glad she's gone. I was surprised they killed of Dent in the end, I thought for sure he was going to survive and come back next time as the main villian. I want to chain Bale up in my closet and bring him out for nightly sexcapades, and needless to say, Ledger was amazing. And of course, I love Cleese in anything.

Finally saw it...
I am totally stunned. It was without a doubt the best movie I have seen in a long time... and Heath Ledger was perfect.
As a comic book geek in my youth, just seeing the large amount of cameos, touches of other storylines, etc... was such a treat.
My only complaint is that horrendous Batman voice. As blasphemous as alot of people might think it is nowadays, Michael Keaton had such a better voice for that role.
On a side note, can someone tell me what the fuck is wrong with Christian Bale's mouth? Why does he look like he has no front teeth when he talks? It is like he is perpetually hiding fake vampire teeth or something... I have no idea why I fixated on this point, but it drove me nuts in the first movie and even moreso this time around.
Oh, and Watchmen better end up being good or I will have to cut someone.

^^^LOL As for Michael Keaton...my employee and I were talking about this the other day. I think that the first batman movie was the best if you're into the less realistic comic book versions. It gets progressively worse from there culminating in the ass raping of a franchise starring Arnold as Mr Freeze. Keaton was good for sure and much better than Clooney. As for Keaton v Bale..they played it 2 different ways. Its apples/oranges. Holly's into older guys though so...

They tried to cram the Dent/Twoface angle in too short a time. It hurt the film. I found the special effects a little annoying at times. Ledger was pretty awesome, though...
