Anheuser to Be Sold for $52 Billion

Anheuser-Busch has agreed to sell itself to the Belgian brewer InBev for about $52 billion, the two companies confirmed Monday in a joint release, putting control of the nation’s largest beer maker and a fixture of American culture into a European rival’s hands.

The board of both companies have approved the deal, the statement said.

The all-cash deal, for $70 a share, will create the world’s largest brewer, uniting the maker of Budweiser and Michelob with the producer of Stella Artois, Bass and Brahma. Together, the two companies would have sales of more than $36 billion a year, surpassing the current No. 1 brewer, SABMiller of London.

The combined company will be named Anheuser-Busch InBev, fulfilling a promise by the Belgian company to include the Anheuser name in the new brewer’s title. Anheuser will be given two seats on the board, including one for August A. Busch IV, the company’s chief executive and a scion of its controlling family.

well... we went off to Europe for a trip... and well.. im gonna keep this nice and say "Keiko" and I's differences became obviously clear...

one of the reasons we left LA was to try to see what we could do to save our relationship. the whole time we were back in FL it only became worse, and the euro trip was the last hurrah...

We arrived back in the states in late december and after the holidays were over I filed for divorce. It was amicable and we still talk as friends... she now lives in Seattle with some mid thirties goth guy...

As for me...
I am in FL right now... I stayed here for now to take care of my grandfather... who... probably by morning will no longer be in this world as he fell into a coma for what is probably the last time tonight. After that... who knows wat happens to Longshot. Maybe he just fades away... Maybe he comes back.. I really am not thinking too far past this week at this point, i just figured i would drop in and answer the WEHT question.

oh, and as far as the bakery... It was something i was trying to help her with, but when she realized it would be actual work she decided not to do it... last i heard she is currently unemployed. Truth is, she never had any ambition or motivation... which is one of our biggest differences.

but... you live, you learn... and well... Rob Black was right, and I should have followed his advice when i broke up with her back then... which was real... and stayed broken up.

however... everything happens for a reason... and i must say... outside of the impending death, i am the happiest i have been in a decade... and if things go right on a few personal things... i may find myself even happier.

Seriously, no need to feel sorry about it. I don't. We were two people who probably wouldnt ave been together for longer than a few months if it had not been for some bonds formed by tragedy. I don't regret my time with her, at times it was wonderful... but as those who knew us best knew.. it was at many times volatile and negative.

My concern, as i dont drink beer... Scotch is better, is the future of the Busch theme parks (busch gardens, sea world),as inbev are talking about selling them off.
Rumours have popped up of Cedar Fair circling the wagons on it... as are Six Flags as Shapiro would love to have some parks that perform that well. I can say with decent certainty that it will NOT be disney... and with ABSOLUTE certainty it will not be Universal.

i worked for a cedar fair company for two years (cedar point in sandusky, oh) best park in the world!!

It's been at least 15-16 years probably a little more but yes I've been there. I didn't even know they owned Kings Island (and all the other places) too now.

I liked The Mine Ride. It was cool how you could see the skeletons including the guy on the horse from that ride.
