So let's say your an 18 year old girl and you've just graduated from high-school in Parma Ohio. You're of average intelligence, level headed and reasonably pretty. You've had typical work experience at MacDonald's or K-Mart so you know the basics of working life. You can get to work on time, follow instructions, open a checking account, balance a checkbook, and pay your bills on time.
You come from an average, intact family, you've had a handful of sexual experiences, and you are not addicted to drugs.
You're not sure what your next move should be; you could keep working at K-Mart, or join the military. You have no idea what you want to do with your life so college doesn't really make sense to you right now.
Is porn a viable option?
Let's make a few more stipulations:
You're willing to do girl-girl, interracial, oral, anal and even the occasional dp if the price is right.
Let's say you can earn an average of 800.00 per scene. Of course, you'll get paid less for some things and more for others, 800 is an average. Further, we'll say that you can manage 2 scenes a day 3 times a week or 4800.00 per week. With 2 weeks off for vacation you will have grossed 240,000.00 after 50 weeks of steady work. If we take 50% for taxes and assume 50,000.00 in living expenses for the year, you'll have a profit of 70,000.00.
If you can manage 4 days a week, your profit goes to 110,000.00. At 5 days you're up to 150,000.00.
Of course the obvious downside is the stigma of a porn past for the rest of your life, but even so...
Now, I know all this has been gone over before in great detail, but not from the perspective of a teenage girl with few options.
You could be 19 years old, with 150,000.00 in the bank and your whole life still ahead of you.
Sure, a porn career might not be a good choice. But I'm no longer sure it's a bad choice either.

there isn't a girl in the business that does 2 scenes in a day. her agent probably wouldn't allow it and her body would break down from it. working 50 weeks a year is a bit unrealistic as well. but if this theoretical girl is doing 3 scenes a week each week, then there is a good chance she is doing privates as well for additional tax free income. So that monetary figure might be correct.
The problem in theory as opposed to reality is that paychecks for performers are not always same day pay as the scene, so you are forced to wait up to 2 weeks sometimes for a check. Its very hard for girls (and guys) to NOT spend that money while waiting for it.
