I don't know what zombie movie it was but it was truly disgusting
guts being eaten
blood being drained
people being dismembered alive
decapitations to the left and to the right
anything and everything horrible and horrendous defiling the human body
this flick was so foul that i couldn't watch it for more than 10 minutes ,and I like Horror movies!

funny how that gets a pass from the censors on national cable but max hardcore goes to jail[maybe]

Since you saw it on IFC it sounds like it could be Romero's follow up flick to "Night of the Living Dead"; "Dawn of the Dead"
Great flick for it's time, good shock value (just like the lower quality Night) that pretty much defined the genre.
Tired, however, by todays standard's for gore flicks.

I can't wait for the American release of "Machine Girl"

The gore is so cheesy it's good. That reminds me; I have to try to get a copy of "Battle Royale" with Chiaki Kuriyama (Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill).

Yes!!! Machine Girl, Oneechanbara/Chanbara Beauty and Tokyo Gore Police are where it's at!

Oh, and you do need to pick up a copy of Battle Royale, but I heard the sequel is shitty.

Speaking of Japanese films, I just watched 'Samurai Commando Mission 1549'...it's about the Japanese military discovering time travel, only when they go back in time with their tanks and helicopters, they can't use live ammo in case they kill someone and it fucks up the future timeline. Ergo, they keep getting speared, slashed and shafted by roving armies of Samurai warriors.
