I don't disagree. My cousin and I come from the same economic background (grew up on the same street, no less). He joined the army to "see the world" and pay for college, I got a normal job. He's in Fort Campbell right now shitting his pants, I'm just a shade over draft-eligible age.

But what I was taking issue with was that few families of people in power (it's not like Democrats are signing their kids up in their patriotic zeal either) have any connection at all with the military aside from their grandpa. That's not a healthy situation for a country to be in.
