I've been meaning to check this one out for a while, but I have about 10 other things still in shrink wrap that I haven't got around to yet.

But as with anything of this nature, I wonder how much of it was scripted or unnecessarily made more dramatic to make the film "better" or "more interesting."

I learned about this from a piece in Harpers about the whole scene and there is a lot of talk that the film did make Billy seem more "the bad guy"....the dude is pompous as hell tho in the article. He did get a perfect score in PacMan (every point possible thru every screen on his first man) so....

I love the shot in the trailer of him when he was younger with the big ass hickey on his neck. Arcade Stud!

Billy reminds me of Rick Wright from Pink Floyd (left):

The argument that the movie made look like Billy Mitchell look like a asshole is bullshit, a few years ago he was on MTV True Life: I'm a Gamer and he was a asshole in that.

The movie is totally legit, the filmmakers went out to make a movie profiling a lot of the classic video game players(Billy, the old lady, the Mappy Guy and so on) but stumbled into the whole Donkey Kong thing and went with it.

my girlfriend has told me, quite a few times, that i would love this movie. but i haven't seen it, yet.

i did see this one, though. really good stuff.

fkn great movie. you can't make that shit up. one of my favorites in the last few years.

I have to watch this again... I caught it the other night on G4 but it was late and I had just gotten back from the gym so I promptly fell asleep about a third of the way into it.

Rent the DVD. The extras are awesome.
