I think this is pretty damn rediculous. Is this normal? Are there any better vod sites that give a higher percentage? I would prefer to not go below 50%. Looks like VOD is now what the distributors were back in the VHS/DVD good old days. They stand to make more mony off of the content, than the producers...this shit aint right

That split is worse than a blown out rectum... seriously, I wouldn't accept less than 40% bare minimum...
Have you tried putting your content in as a leased feed for members areas?

Bandwidth and server storage space aren't cheap but 20% is bottom of the barrel. 30% to 40% is more towards the norm and you can get as high as 60% on some download to own sites (not VOD but still a decent split).

Keep looking, otherwise start your own site where you'll find, after expenses, you run about 50% profit on average.

While I was hoping for exact references to exact sites that offer higher percentages I appreciate the information greatly.

Well paysites sometimes pay for feeds to be plugged into their members areas to keep their members happier longer. Leased on a monthly/bandwidth basis.
If you have enough content then it may be an option worth considering. Try hitting up some companies that offer this service and see if they could use your stuff, sure couldn't hurt. An example of a companies that do this are www.pluginfeeds.com and www.worldwidefeeds.com not sure if they work with content other than their own but there are those that do.
It's not really VOD but the end user doesn't download either so you could do this in addition to VOD.

I also think 20 % is unfair but that seems to be the average amount I've seen. You have to take into account the expenses of running the site, plus it is no cost to you to add your content to a VOD site. Anything you make is a bonus. It would be nice if it were a split partnership and it was 50/50, but that ain't happening.

in the amature's channel you get 40% aswell for being a amature producer.

20% is to low dude. Do not settle on that number but there is no way you will get 50% from anyone.

You know... I've been thinking about getting back into the VOD game and hell, I'll give anybody who does an exclusive deal 50%. The problem isn't with cost, its with market saturation.
