Do your own or don't do it. It's a 20% split because most do a non-exclusive distribution agreement - and thats where the problem lies. It's not expensive to covert, host or serve up. They know your going to execute a distribution agreement with everyone and dilute the revenue potential with them.
The idea that anything you get is 'extra' is just plain stupid. The cost is lost revenue from your site, lost revenue from DVD sales and a dilution of your product value because you can't sell a DVD or site membership for $20 when consumers are already paying six cents a minute.
